Video of Mayor John Workman's Parachute Jump -- Recently, 13 mayors from South Florida took a leap of faith – they made a 12,000 foot jump from a plane with the U.S. Army Parachute Team, the Golden Knights. Yes, the same folks who took George H. W. Bush for a jump on his 85th birthday. The purpose of the jump was to show support for our troops, and as you can see from the video, our Mayor John Workman did us proud!

Town of Palm Beach Shores Flood Facts -- Flooding in Palm Beach Shores is caused by heavy rainfall that occurs in short periods of time, as is common during summer thunderstorms. However, the greatest flood threats come from the excessive amounts of rainfall that accompany coastal storms, tropical storms and hurricanes. Residents should be aware that Palm Beach Shores is linked to the Palm Beach County Emergency Operations Center. Palm Beach County has an Emergency Management Plan (EMP) that includes a number of warning systems, outlined in the attached document.

Florida Emergency Management -- During hurricane season there are many on-line sites offering offering weather reports and commentary on tropical storms in the Atlantic. This link will take you to the Florida Emergency Management site which offers weather and other emergency information relevant to Florida. The site also has links to other sites such as the National Hurricane Center operated by NOAA.
